Danny really is the boy with first adult win

DANNY RAY left some proven and experienced runners in his wake to win the first of this year’s 5k in the Park Runs yesterday.
A field of more than 80 came to the start line in Saumarez Park, a mix of all ages and capabilities and a sprinkling of the elite.
But nobody impressed more than the 15-year-old Hampshire county medallist, who clocked 16min. 51sec. to win by 15sec. from veteran David Parkin, who had been runner-up in the recent 10-mile race to Steve Dawes.
After a conservative start in which Ray bode his time to settle in a leading group in four, the leaders completed the first of four 1.25k circuits of the park around the 4-30 mark.
But Ray then upped the pace and enjoyed a few metres advantage on Parkin at halfway, reached in 8-20.
