THE dream of Wembley lives on for Guernsey FC as they progressed to the FA Vase quarter-finals with a fantastic 3-1 victory at Spalding United on Saturday.
After falling behind to a superb Gary King strike early on, the Green Lions finally got into their stride and were level at the half-time break through star striker Ross Allen’s equaliser.
Allen set up Matt Loaring to give GFC a 2-1 lead and when Allen added his second to make it three, GFC had achieved one of the greatest achievements in the history of island football.
GFC coach Tony Vance is now waiting to see who his side will face in the last-eight next month, although it will definitely not be holders Dunston UTS, whose Vase defence surprisingly ended with a defeat at Tunbridge Wells.
But he is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.
