Great way to mark up a 100

Guernsey 16, Tonbridge Juddian 11
THIS was a performance befitting the Guernsey Rugby Club’s 100th birthday.
In many ways it was a shame that the crowd from the GFC game earlier in the day on this unique double-header afternoon had not hung around to watch it because what these two sides produced far exceeded what had come before them in both entertainment and quality.
The display of the returning Malcolm Barnes was worth the admittance money alone, but this was all about the team ethic as Guernsey became the first side outside of the top four in National Three London & South-East to defeat fifth-placed Tonbridge Juddian.
Just seven days after berating his players for their failings against Gravesend, albeit in a winning cause, Guernsey coach Jordan Reynolds had reason to smile as the snowflakes fell after the final whistle at Footes Lane.
‘If you look at that performance last week, rightfully I was disappointed, but they were a completely different team this week,’ he said.
