Kitching revels as Whalley limps out
Monday 25th February 2013, 2:30PM GMT.
STAR hockey man Andy Whalley is an injury doubt for Guernsey ahead of their EH Trophy quarter-final at home to Gateshead next weekend.
He aggravated a hamstring niggle in the early stages of Clubhouse Casuals’ 8-0 defeat by Division One title favourites ABN Amro at Footes Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Casuals were already trailing to an early Adam Kitching goal and then missed a great chance of levelling via a penalty flick when Whalley, the island player-coach, went on a run down the right and when it came to an end on the edge of the D immediately signalled to coach Andy Graham that he was injured and had to come off.
Whalley launched his stick into a bin with frustration as he stepped off the pitch and with his disappearance, so went Casuals’ hopes of turning the game around.
