A poor game on an even poorer pitch. Even the relatively small crowd seemed subdued.
The pitch was very heavy and made accurate passing very difficult although Guernsey did not help themselves by passing directly to the opposition on numerous occassions.
Lets hope the team stays injury free over the next five days particulalry with an away league game mid-week.
I have just reviewed the fixture list for April which seems to me to be impossible to achieve. How can anybody play three games Friday, Saturday and Sunday – impossible. Surely the league and the FA will have to extend the season?
Picked up my stand ticket for the Spennymore game. Although a remarkable achievement in getting this far in the FA Vase the game next Saturday should be very eciting and I hope as many supporters as possible turn out to support.

Oh No ! They fouled Kenny !

Crowd was over 1,000, not bad for a Sunday lunchtime.

The League can only only be further extended if granted by the FA, who are no going to do so for just one club.
Teams should have been forced to travel mid-week. Simple.

Hold on a minute ,why should other teams be forced to travel simply to sort out our own problems, its not their fault our pitch has been unplayable for months.
Winning the league should always have been a priority (as they need to play stronger opposition) this extended run in the FA vase was always going to jeopordise the league position.
Take a look at the top teams in the Premiership and see what teams they put out in cup games.
Perhaps we should have slipped out of the cup a few games ago.

That’s not the whole story valeite, more games have been lost for other reasons (mainly the Vase run) and out of the games lost to the weather its only one more home game has been lost compared to the UK.
Guernsey has created history in the Vase and brought national attention to the side and to the island which can only be a good thing. To get a chance to play at Wembley is a highlight for any player, especially one playing at Step 5.

For the project long term the FA vase is less important than the league.
As for making teams travel midweek that would be grossly unfair and not what they signed up for. As lower level players being forced to give up holiday unexpectedly will mean weak teams travel and disdvantage themselves. We were let into the UK leagues on a certain basis

basis
“lower level players being forced to give up holiday unexpectedly”
Really, surely any keen player would give his back teeth to play in front of 1,000+ people AND get it all paid for! at the cost of 1 days holiday.
I agree at the outset the FA Vase was less important than the league, but when you get this far, (only one step from Wembley) you have to go for the Vase, it will probably never come along again in any of these players lifetime.

Actually “basis” that is not quite true. I understand the agreement was that no team would be asked to travel midweek unless a fixture backlog lead to no other alternative. So they all knew that there was always a chance that this would happen. Sadly the League failed to keep to its word over this and made many u-turns.
Certain teams are quite happy to travel over for a match on a Sunday with a early kick-off and yet still feel the need to stay overnight. So I guess when its suits they are happy to take time off work.

GFCfan, the GFC knew of the problems that a bad winter may cause before the season started.
Invariably, visiting players would have to take 2 days off work to get here in good time for a midweek game.
If it was a Tuesday night game, they would need to take the Tuesday off work to travel over and would not be able to travel back until the following morning.
Opposition players may not be happy to try to travel back the following day on the red eye (if an available option, most flights are near full) and then commute to work.
I bet most people living in England dont have the luxury of a max 15 minute trip to work in the morning like we do over here.

Joe, of course the club were aware, but nobody could have foreseen the problem with the pitch (i.e. blocked drains!), the long run in the Vase and losing a number of games in the UK due to the weather and one as the visitors did not want to travel on Boxing Day. All I was saying is that when GFC signed up for this there was always a risk that in extreme circumstances teams would have to travel midweek, which was accepted. But when it came to the crunch, the agreement was not adhered to.
