Sharman to apply for island coach’s position
Wednesday 21st August 2013, 11:00AM BST.
AFTER helping Guernsey to successive Muratti Vase successes, Steve Sharman has entered the running to be the new head coach for the 2014 edition.
The highly-respected local coach, who is now back living in the island, was Kevin Graham’s assistant for 2012 and 2013, as the Sarnians won and then retained the famous Vase against Jersey.
With Graham standing down, Sharman, who is also involved with Guernsey FC as the technical coach and analyst, appears the natural frontrunner for the representative job.
He has confirmed he would apply before next week’s 30 August deadline, but insisted that there were options aplenty for the Guernsey Football Association to consider.
‘Yes, I will be applying. I have no problem admitting that will be the case,’ he said.
