‘We’ve adjusted’ says Loaring
Tuesday 10th September 2013, 3:30PM BST.
MATT LOARING is hoping to continue his fine form and help enhance Guernsey FC’s hopes of pushing themselves further up into the Ryman South play-off mix tomorrow.
The Green Lions travel to Burgess Hill Town and it is another tough assignment, facing a team well versed at this level, having finished in the top-eight three times in the last four seasons.
They are 10th so far this campaign, one of 10 teams separated by just three points, a group that includes GFC, who are down in 14th but feasibly within one win of a top-five play-off spot.
GFC got their first home win on the board against Whitstable Town on Saturday to put themselves back within the chasing pack, to follow up their FA Cup win at second-placed Crawley Down Gatwick (where they also picked up a league draw).
Loaring has now scored in successive games and is one of only two players – Dom Heaume being the other – to start all eight games so far this campaign and he believes the Lions are heading in the right direction.
‘We were always going to take a bit of time to adjust to this standard of football, but now we have, I think we should be pushing for the play-offs,’ said the man whose 31st goal puts him third on GFC’s all-time goals list.
Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 7.30pm.
