More bad luck for Priaulx
Tuesday 17th September 2013, 2:30PM BST.
A STORMING start to the DTM race in Oschersleben could not secure Andy Priaulx any points in the series.
Despite making up four places after the lights went out, his Crowne Plaza Hotels BMW M3 DTM was soon in the wars after being pushed onto the grass.
The loss of vital aerodynamic parts meant his car was then incapable of fighting for top positions.
Despite this, Priaulx carried on and was only able to bring it home in 19th.
‘I had a damaged car for almost the whole race,’ said the BMW Team RMG driver.
Despite the threat of rain for the race, it held off.
With the east German track being notoriously difficult for overtaking, the drivers had to take every opportunity presented to them, so there were some incidents along the way.
However, the driver not to suffer any of these was BMW’s Augusto Farfus who won the race from second on the grid.
The series title battle is now down to a fight between the BMW driver and Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller, who leads by 33 points with a maximum of 50 available.
The next and penultimate round of the DTM series is at Zandvoort, the Netherlands, on 29 September.
