Trebert has talent in the football genes

THE lad has plenty of footballing pedigree and after getting his first taste of Guernsey FC football, Nick Trebert is keen to get involved further with the Green Lions in the coming weeks.
The 17-year-old defender, son of Lee Renouf and grandson of Colin, arguably the island’s greatest ever defender, came off the bench for the final few minutes of Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Tooting & Mitcham United in Ryman South and didn’t look fazed by the step up in class.
Most notably, he is the first player to effectively be picked for GFC based upon his performances with the new Guernsey College Football Academy, run by Tony Vance.
Although four others have been involved in both, Trebert is the first to be selected without attending GFC training and he explained how the chance came about.
‘Tony came up to me and said that he was interested in getting me involved with GFC and it was then great to be selected in the squad,’ he said.
‘I have always had ambitions of playing for GFC and I would like to be more involved in the future, although that depends on Tony and whether he wants me.
