Billericay will be without star striker

WHILE Guernsey FC use their enforced break to nurse players back to fitness, there is bad news for Billericay Town, the Green Lions’ FA Trophy opponents on Saturday week.
They will definitely be without their star striker in 10 days’ time when the two sides meet at Footes Lane in the first qualifying round.
With the time and date now set for a 1pm kick off on Saturday 19 October, attention will now focus to ensuring a bumper crowd comes through the turnstiles.
Because of Leatherhead’s FA Cup commitments this weekend, Tony Vance’s men have a Saturday off and he will hope to get his many injured defenders back.
Sam Cochrane, Tom Strawbridge, Jacques Isabelle and Jamie Dodd all have knocks, as well as midfielder Ryan-Zico Black.
‘The time we have off allows us to look after these injuries for the next couple of weeks and hopefully they will all be fit for the Billericay game,’ said manager Vance.
However, it is a busy time for Billericay, who sit 10th in the Ryman Premier in their first season back since relegation from the Conference South.
They are in good form, having won four of their last five league games and sit just five points outside the play-offs, having beaten third-placed Kingstonian at the weekend.
That was achieved without the use of top scorer Ricky Sappleton, who has scored seven goals already this season, but was sent off at Carshalton.
He picked up a four-match Ryman ban for the offence, which as well as ruling him out last weekend and last night’s League Cup match with AFC Hornchurch, will sideline him against Enfield Town and then GFC.
