Football is united

GUERNSEY representative football remains the pinnacle of the local game.
That is the agreement of all three main parties in the local sport – including Guernsey FC – as a new Football Strategy Committee has been set up.
Comprising two representatives from the Guernsey Football Association, the League Management Committee and GFC, the new board will be run by an independent chairman, who is yet to be named. The idea is to ensure that everybody works closer together to benefit the local game, following on from recent conflicts regarding player availability for the Muratti Vase and the FA Inter-League Cup.
GFC chairman Steve Dewsnip (pictured) is positive about the news, believing that GFC is to help develop players for representative football, not to replace it in any way. ‘We welcome the introduction of the FSC and are pleased to be invited to participate in it,’ he said.
