Green light for Green Lions
Wednesday 13th April 2011, 2:30PM BST.
GUERNSEY FC has been given the green light to go ahead by the Football Association.
The FA Leagues Committee met with GFC directors Steve Dewsnip and Mark Le Tissier last week and have now given the nod for the Green Lions to join the National League System at step six.
It is the announcement that looks certain to bring about the most revolutionary moment in local football history, with the Combined Counties League the likely entrance point.
That still needs to be confirmed at the league’s annual general meeting on Friday 24 June, but with 30 of the 40 clubs currently in favour, it is hoped this is a mere formality.
