ACCEPTING Guernsey FC into the Combined Counties League has been described by its league secretary as ‘an exciting opportunity’.

Alan Constable has given unequivocal backing to the new Guernsey club in a feature article in the latest nationwide Non-League Paper.

He regards it as another example of a pioneering step by his league, similar to that of AFC Wimbledon, who are now pushing for promotion from the Blue Square Bet Premier Division where they lie second to Crawley Town.

Crucially, too, Constable strongly suggests that the official league vote on Guernsey FC’s entry is nothing more than a formality.
