SAM COCHRANE became Guernsey FC’s first signing yesterday as he spoke of his delight at the Green Lions’ introduction into the UK non-league pyramid.
The 25-year-old island captain signed on yesterday at Foote’s Lane, watched by coach Tony Vance and director Steve Dewsnip, as GFC’s first competitive game is less than seven weeks away.
Cochrane, who will be GFC’s captain, insisted his future is very much in a Guernsey shirt as he looks forward to the busiest part of his career.
‘Guernsey FC is my priority now. It is as simple as that,’ he said.

Well it’s come, Guernseys Priaulx League ruined, so called top Elite Players now going to play in a league no higher then the Priaulx it self. The players and Management believe they will get noticed, none of them are good enough to be noticed, yes, they think they are.
All that playing together worked really well, look at the Muratti result, that says it all, we are a poor side.
These UK teams are in this for a day or 2 out, they play in a very poor league, i have seen them, or most of them.
Guernsey united never got off the ground and now we see these English blokes taking up our Guernsey posts.
Things have gone downhill, dont fool yourself Guernsey FC, they dont give a toss about the Muratti, all they care about is themselves, stuff the lot of them.

Nice to meet you Thom, I thought I was on my own on this. The whole thing is a complete smoke screen for a bunch of selfish guys who as normal want their own way and dont care what destruction they leave behind to get it. Guernsey football not good enough for them, THEN LEAVE AND PLAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. You should be good enough in CCL Div 1 but after that most of you will be back at your clubs in Guernsey on a full time basis

Gerald
Are they selfish or ambitious? I think the latter. They want to test themselves at a higher level on a regular basis.
If you resent them for being ambitious then we should make sure that you have absolutely no involvement with sport because suppressing progression of individuals for your own selfish protectionist reasons frankly stinks.
There are far too many dinosaurs around Guernsey football. You think it will die because of GFC? It is dying anyway at the top local level without it.

Excuse me gents (Gerry & Tommy), have you borrowed Emett Brown’s time machine and travelled back to pre-historic times?
Gerald, I’ve been reading your tripe for the last few months…
I am keen to know exactly how this is has any negative effect on Guernsey football? Further how it will negatively impact on your existence? Or are we just having a general moan because “it’s not what it used to be when i was a boy”
Please enlighten me.

GM there is a current culture of selfism in what ever guise you want to put it. Look how Cochrane just left Bels last year after all that club had done for him. He is not alone in this but the players are very selfish, they are not thinking about Guernsey or whats best for local football. I think Guernsey football was no longer good enough for a lot of them when they returned from Croatia, they just got too big for their boots and forgot where they came from. ie the clubs in Guernsey. Again they get their own way and will now play in the UK at a very bumpy level on some very bumpy pitches. Meanwhile the clubs will have to pick up the pieces and try to move forwards as usual

Bart please accept this extra bit of tripe. If you can only see the positives in this then you know nothing
I resent no one for being ambititious but personal ambitions should not affect others. You are correct with one point, I do want to protect local football and if that makes me selfish then I am willing to accept that
