AFC WIMBLEDON will be the opponents for Guernsey FC’s inaugural match, as Foote’s Lane prepares for two prestigious floodlit encounters.

Bristol City will also appear in the island as part of a three-match pre-season friendly run for newly-formed GFC, who were accepted into the Combined Counties League on Monday.

But it is Wimbledon who have similar foundations to GFC, having also originally entered the CCL after being formed in protest at the original club’s relocation to Milton Keynes.

And after five promotions in eight seasons, they are now in the Football League for the first time, also beginning their campaign in August.
