THE Guernsey Football Association has created difficulties for itself with its new rule forcing Guernsey FC players to choose between the community club and playing in the Muratti semi-final, according to a Vale Rec stalwart.

‘Guernsey FC might have gained promotion by then so they could have their second team out and the best players could choose the Muratti,’ said Tony Smith, 77, the club’s president and a life vice-president.

He thought it was far too early for such a decision to be made.

‘By doing this with the match so far away, the GFA has caused unnecessary problems.’

But speaking at Vale Rec’s Priaulx League match against Rovers on Saturday, Dave Gaudion, 66, thought the Muratti squad should be picked from players who play more regularly in the local set-up.
