TONY VANCE praised ‘the best away performance yet’ as his Guernsey FC side won 3-1 at Staines Lammas last night.
The Green Lions are now 11 points clear at the top of Combined Counties League Division One after a Ross Allen brace and a Kieran Mahon strike, the latter the man of the match in a superb team display.
Vance (pictured) was delighted his men hit their best form again, against the side many beforehand had tipped to upset the Lions.
‘The performance tonight was exceptional. We got our tactics and approach to them spot on,’ he said.
‘We were in control for most of the game. It was important for us to force them and make them predictable to play.
‘Once we did that, they didn’t really have a Plan B and I always felt like we had enough to win the game.’
Vance’s side next travel on Saturday to second-placed Bedfont Sports, who have four games in hand on the Lions and are still unbeaten, with a 100% winning home record.
