Last Saturday the Tav took a step back in time as ’80s electropop covers band Fade2Grey were joined by originals act Strange Arrangement.

I WAS a bit sceptical at first – the Fermain Tavern for a gig on a late-September Wednesday – but I was stunned to see that the place was almost full for the blues guitarist.

In TERMS of gigs of the year, last Saturday’s appearance by PP Arnold and her band at the Fermain Tavern will be hard to beat.

I headed up to the Tav last Saturday, in the rain, to catch the second gig to be held in the newly-refurbed area.

It felt like a long time coming, but The Fermain Tavern finally reopened last Saturday.To say proprietor Chris Staples, his team and the workmen were cutting it fine to get the place finished on time is not a huge understatement.

The wait is almost over. The newly refurbished live room at The Fermain Tavern is set to open its doors in a few weeks’ time with four bands playing at the launch party. Colin Leach and Emily Burden had a peek inside the venue…
