CHIEF Pleas will meet on 2 July for what, after the appropriate part of the new Reform Law is implemented, will in future be termed the Midsummer Meeting and will become the fourth – after Christmas, Easter and Michaelmas – annual statutory meeting of the legislature.

AN ATTEMPT by the owners of Brecqhou to have quashed as illegal Sark’s reform law, which will introduce democracy there for the first time in more than 400 years, has, perhaps unsurprisingly, been rejected in the High Court of Justice.

THE Royal Court has given the States permission to add the names of people who had been left off the electoral roll.

SARK’S Reform Law should receive royal assent at the Privy Council meeting on 9 April, Chief Pleas was told yesterday.
