FIVE people have been arrested in connection with the spate of burglaries in the south of the island.

The latest wave of burglaries that have come to light in the aftermath of Christmas are shocking by Guernsey standards and all the more concerning because there could be more yet to come to light.

TWO more burglaries were reported to police yesterday, which takes to 10 the total number in the south of the island since 9 December.

§COBO VILLAGE CENTRE has been hit by thieves again who this time caused thousands of pounds-worth of damage but escaped with just £40 in cash and some cigarettes.

BUSINESSES in the north of the island are warned to be on their guard after a series of break-ins.

RECENT burglaries in the western part of St Peter Port have forced residents to think again about security.

POLICE want help identifying about 150 items that they suspect have been stolen.
