States makes moves to control its level of service with Condor
Thursday 30th June 2011, 11:30AM BST.
TOP-LEVEL government talks have taken place with Condor about the future of its service.
Guernsey’s External Transport Group and Jersey’s Economic Development Committee met the company after a troubled summer season so far.
Commerce and Employment Minister Carla McNulty Bauer told the States yesterday that the meeting discussed these difficulties and also general points about the future of transport links.
Guernsey does not have legislation to govern sea links, but Jersey does. Instead it has a ‘memorandum of understanding’ (or MoU) with Condor, setting out the level of service that both parties agree the island needs.
Both Jersey’s permit system and Guernsey’s MoU expire in 2013.

I hope the States and all those who moan, appreciate that the tougher the restrictions on Condor’s operations, the greater justification for inflating the already high prices.
